Essence of Scientific Presentation -- tips from the NIG Method
Speaker:
Director / Senior Research Administrator
Office for Research Development, National Institute of Genetics (NIG)
Abstract:
Scientific presentation (research presentation) is not an oral version of your research paper. Presentation transmits not only research accomplishments but also valuable information about the presenters themselves: the breadth of their research interests, logical and critical thinking skills, future directions, and personality. To meet these hidden needs of scientific presentation, National Institute of Genetics (NIG = Dept. Genetics, SOKENDAI) have developed a methodology of scientific presentation, called "NIG Method". This methodology has been adopted as a curriculum for scientific presentation in many departments of SOKENDAI.
This workshop will introduce essential elements of this methodology.
Participants will also watch a video of model presentation and discuss how the presentation can be improved.
