Symposium on the CPS Integrated IT Platform (CPS-IIP) Project
The CPS-IIP project has been supported by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)
Outline
Cyber-Physical System (CPS) is expected to increase efficiency in social systems and services and create new value by integrating the information system (Cyber) with the physical system (Physical) that functions in the real world. The information system is used to link date from the real world that are obtained through diverse sensors and social media, and analyzes them to visualize the status of the real world and optimize it. We have been conducting research of a CPS at a social scale since 2012 which we call it Social CPS. What we aim to accomplish in the research is to design and build an integrated IT platform for the CPS, which consists of pervasive sensing networks connecting diverse sensors, a data management and analysis system for service processing, and actuators for real world feedback. The CPS IT platform is expected to be a cyber infrastructure for efficient social operation.
The project, called "Cyber-physical Integrated IT Platform Project to Optimize Social Systems and Services" commissioned by MEXT, has been conducted by a group of leading researchers from NII, Hokkaido Univ., Osaka Univ., and Kyushu Univ. In this symposium, towards the final year of the project, we are going to present our achievements with special reference to two demonstration experiments, or field trials, and discuss future challenges for Social CPS implementation. Research status in European countries will also be presented by prominent invited speakers from France and Germany.
